Tampa General Hospital, ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall, implemented a mitigation plan to ensure physicians could continue providing care for patients, including implementing its AquaFence for the second time in two weeks.
The AquaFence is a water-impermeable barrier that can withstand storm surges up to 15 feet. It saved TGH from a catastrophic storm surge that inundated parts of the Tampa Bay area during Hurricane Helene.
Currently, there are no restrictions on care at the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, and the facility continues to treat patients, including injuries or health emergencies related to first responders or others impacted.
