The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Aviation Section was recently honored for a heroic rescue in late February when pilot Manny Feller and tactical flight deputy Thomas Fisher found a missing five-year-old girl with autism wandering in local county swamplands.

The deputies returned the girl to safety within 11 minutes of their arrival on scene, prompting the Life Saver Award from Teledyne FLIR.

“Our Aviation Section is equipped to handle any challenge, from routine patrol to critical incidents,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said . “This award is a testament to their ability to rise to the occasion and continually deliver exceptional results.”
