Tampa General Hospital (TGH) with Lifepoint Health and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, cut the ribbon this week on the TGH Behavioral Health Hospital, the first and only freestanding academic medical center-affiliated behavioral health hospital in Florida.

The hospital, at 1303 Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa, has 96 beds for patients in crisis due to a medical health condition. It will offer 24-hour care, including medication management, safety planning and therapy.

Staff will include USF Health psychiatrists and psychologists, with TGH therapists and specialized nursing staff to provide personalized care.

Doug Leonardo is serving as the new hospital’s CEO.
