The suspect who seriously injured a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy by running him over has been arrested.

Detectives identified William Lewis Jr. as the driver who fled a traffic stop, struck Kalin Hall and fled. Lewis was arrested July 8 in Pasco County.

“Our detectives worked tirelessly to ensure this dangerous and reckless suspect was apprehended,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We couldn’t stand by knowing this suspect injured our deputy and fled without any regard for human life. This arrest demonstrates our team’s commitment to justice.”

Hall has been released from the hospital and is expected to fully recover.
