Tampa General Hospital celebrates 50 years as a nationally recognized transplant institute with more than 13,000 transplants completed

Tampa General Hospital’s Transplant Institute is celebrating a half-century as one of the leading transplant centers in the nation providing lifesaving care.

“The 50th anniversary is remarkable on its own, but consider the more than 13,000 lives saved by Tampa General’s Transplant Institute over the last five decades,” said John Couris, President and Chief Executive Officer at Tampa General. “This anniversary is a tribute to the providers and their commitment to exceptional care.”

Since its inception in 1974, the TGH Transplant Institute has performed more than 13,000 organ transplants including, heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas and more. Read more here.
