Even if you arent up for ribs, brisket, sausage or pork belly, St. Petersburgs newest barbecue joint, Dr. BBQ, has plenty of small plate offerings and refreshing drinks. Cornbread comes shaped like French madelines with pear butter. Caulilini, a cauliflower hybrid, is lightly coated in garlic oil. Purple cabbage is yummy with agave and rice wine vinegar.
The Beamsicle is a slushy version of a creamsicle with Jim Beam Vanilla Bourbon. The sweet Southern Belle combines pink gin, peach puree, sauvignon blanc and lemon.
The cavernous building itself is worth checking out with touches of reclaimed wood and blown glass.
