The worlds largest collection of work by famed French jewelry designer Jean Schlumberger is coming to the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg.
Best known for his work for Tiffany & Co., Schlumberger was a master at using the natural world as inspiration for creating unique works of jeweled art. Such fashion icons as Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Rachel Bunny Mellon wore his creations in the 1960s and 70s.
Jewels of the Imagination: Radiant Masterworks by Jean Schlumberger from the Mellon Collection opens Dec. 15, and a companion exhibition tells Schlumbergers story, while offering a look inside his creative process.
