Last week, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority celebrated the six-month anniversary of its Sunrunner bus rapid transit route connecting downtown St. Petersburg to the beaches and announced it was expanding.

PSTA will add a new stop downtown near the Sundial parking garage at 150 1st Ave. North, giving riders easier access to the St. Pete Pier, Beach Drive, the Cross Bay Ferry and more.

It currently takes approximately 12 minutes to walk from the 5th St. station to the St. Pete Pier. From the new stop, it will take just five minutes.

Ridership has increased monthly since Sunrunner launched in October.
