Tampa lands $5.3 million federal grant for Ashley Dr. Improvements

by The 100 Companies

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the city of Tampa $5.3 million, from federal funding, to help fund reconstruction of the Ashley Drive corridor, including removing a flyover ramp to I-275 and an exit ramp.

Plans also call for replacing the interchange with a boulevard-style design to increase connectivity.

The project is expected to increase pedestrian and cyclist access and safety.

The funding will cover about half of the project’s total cost. It’s part of the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Grant Program under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law President Joe Biden signed in 2021 to reconnect communities previously cut off.
