The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority’s sunset may be fast approaching, as lawmakers again file to dissolve the agency and agency heads take steps adhere.
Sen. Nick DiCeglie and Rep. Jeff Holcomb have each filed bills to dissolve the agency and, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, TBARTA Executive Director David Green supports the bills for allowing “until the end of the state fiscal year.”
The agency was meant to provide regional transportation planning, but has failed to reach cohesive goals, running instead an intra-county vanpool service.
It’s the third year lawmakers have sought to shut it down.
