Florida Poly collaborates to advance battery cooling innovation

by The 100 Companies

Researchers and students at Florida Polytechnic University are working on two projects related to battery technology.

One seeks to improve passive cooling to make cooling more efficient and accessible, a feature necessary to ensure batteries work optimally. Overheating damages batteries. The research focuses on heat transfer in the area of energy conversion.

The other project uses work on thermal energy storage to concentrate solar power, combined with work on water desalination.

The research is part of a partnership with University Carlos III in Madrid as part of the Fulbright program.

Florida Poly Associate Professor Gerardo Carbajal is leading the projects.
