For most kids, summer means relaxing by the pool, playing in the sand and relishing a break from school. But for one in four children in Pinellas County, it can also mean hunger.
These children receive free or reduced breakfasts and lunches during the school year, but they struggle for nourishment during the summer months.
The St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s food pantry offers fresh produce and healthy food options to families who struggle to feed their kids over the summer. Make summer a season for giving by donating kid-friendly foods such as cereal, peanut butter and macaroni and cheese.
