Journalists receive 200 to 1,000 emails per day. Getting their attention can be difficult.
Experts on PRSA Tampa Bay’s recent media panel, which gave PR pros an insider’s perspective on how to break through the onslaught of emails, offered this advice:
1. Know your audience. The Tampa Bay Business Journal only wants business news, while WUSF-FM goes in-depth on the local impact of state or national trends.
2. Explain how you can bring the story to life with photos, videos, experts or a customer.
3. Use the subject line to highlight the event date and relevant details.
