In a complaint filed in federal court, Jason Byrley said he endured nine months of discrimination and harassment before being fired by his boss, Christine Hancock. The discrimination and harassment, he said, only began after Hancock learned he is gay.
Hancock is the director of revenue at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Byrley worked for her between February and December of 2019.
Byrley said he went to the hospital’s human resources department repeatedly, but was brushed off and ignored. Attempts to transfer from Hancock’s supervision were also ignored.
Byrley is now seeking damages for lost wages, attorney fees and punitive damages.
