Bucs’ kicker Ryan Succop placed on reserved after contracting COVID-19

The Buccaneers placed kicker Ryan Succop on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he tested positive for the virus.

He will not participate in Saturday’s preseason finale at Houston, but head coach Bruce Arians said Succop likely will be available when the regular season begins on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Undrafted rookie Jose Borregales will take Succop’s place at Houston.

Succop was a steadying force last season to the Bucs’ oft-chaotic kicking game, converting 37 of his 40 field-goal tries last season. He had a 52-yard field goal and four extra points in the Bucs’ 31-9 win over Kansas City in the Super Bowl.
