District 6 incumbent Gina Driscoll will officially kick off her reelection campaign on June 22 at the iconic Chattaway burger joint in Southeast St. Pete, a staple in her historic district.
Driscoll, first elected nearly four years ago, is seeking her second term on the dais. She faces just one challenger — Mhariel Summers. Three other candidates have already withdrawn from the race.
Driscoll by far leads the race in fundraising with more than $75,000 raised as of the end of May. Summers has yet to report any fundraising, setting up what should be an easy race for the incumbent.
