The National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, D.C., tells America’s story.
Three must-see exhibits:
– The Middle Passage lists names of slave ships, the number of captives who boarded and the number who survived the journey. The loss of lives was staggering.
– Neighborhood Record Store guests play favorite songs from Notorious B.I.G. to Louis Armstrong. Strangers may end up singing together.
– A loop of the Oprah show airs momentous clips, including a Freedom Riders reunion, 100 men holding photos of themselves at the ages they were abused and, of course, “You get a car!”
