Janet Echelman’s colorful outdoor sculptures grace the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Seattle headquarters. Now there’s an effort to bring an Echelman installation to St. Petersburg’s new downtown Pier District.
An Echelman sculpture would significantly add to St. Petersburg’s growing renown as an international arts destination. It would bring sophistication, glamour and visitors to the Pier. It would also be a beautiful display of public art, available for viewing by all at no cost.
The effort is a public-private partnership, worthy of support as a quality addition to our vibrant, beautiful city of the arts.
