Artist Duke Riley created “Trading with the Enemy,” a live art project that involved training 50 pigeons to fly from Key West to Havana and back – carrying Cuban cigars and video cameras – to make a statement about the US trade embargo with Cuba.
See this and more at the artist’s latest exhibit, “Duke Riley: Flights of Fancy,” at the USF Contemporary Art Museum now through March 4.
Join curator Sarah Howard for a discussion of Riley’s work, exploring the embargo’s impact on the cigar industry and on West Tampa, in TBBCA’s free Cultural Encounter at 6 p.m. Jan. 20.
