Operation Renewed Hope puts a dent in Hillsborough human trafficking

by The 100 Companies

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office report success in combating human trafficking through Operation Renewed Hope.

In the past three months, the Human Trafficking Squad arrested 123 individuals, targeting online predators and reducing prostitution demand.

Chronister said the arrests represent a commitment to protecting the community’s most vulnerable.

Among those arrested are former teacher James Villacorteza, who faces charges for soliciting a minor.

Since June 2021, the Human Trafficking Squad has arrested 604 people, including 36 charged for human trafficking. They have rescued 28 victims to date. Chronister encourages people to report possible crimes at 813-247-8200.
