Tampa International Airport officials have a plan to support what they expect to be an increase in airport users, with a master plan spanning two decades that includes expanding baggage claim, modernizing ticketing and a potential new terminal, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The plan assumes nearly 39 million passengers using the airport annually by 2042, a staggering 84% increase over today’s passenger volume.
A new terminal would likely be located north of the current hub where employee parking and air cargo facilities are currently located. An exact design for the terminal and airsides has not yet been selected.
