Hillsborough County veterans and first responders will observe Patriot Day on Friday, Sept. 9 with a special ceremony marking the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Hosted by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Consumer & Veterans Services and the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County, the community event will start at 9 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
The one-hour ceremony to honor the victims of 9/11 will include a solemn escort of a 135-pound section of a steel beam salvaged from the World Trade Center. HCFR Chief Dennis Jones will be the keynote speaker.
The event also provides free resources, such as crisis counseling and veterans’ benefits assistance.
