Tampa Electric (TECO), Peoples Gas and the UF Lastinger Center for Learning’s New Worlds Reading Initiative teamed up to host a Family Literacy Event at Warren Hope Dawson Elementary School Jan. 30 in observance of Celebrate Literacy Week.
Families enjoyed a bilingual read-aloud, reading activities and a meet-and-greet with Clifford the Big Red Dog. Local students received copies of “Hello Ocean” and “The Little Red Fort.”
TECO’s support of New Worlds Reading has helped distribute more than 8 million books to students, strengthening literacy skills and fostering a love for reading. Families can apply for free books at newworldsreading.com.
