Colby Mullin saw a large Lego board at his school, Florida Polytechnic University, and decided to welcome students back to campus with a mural made exclusively of the iconic toy bricks.
The Lego Society was born, and now boasts more than 20 student members who meet every Thursday to build with Legos, a seemingly adolescent activity that has adult implications, particularly for engineering students enamored with creating the impossible.
“It’s something that is easy for people to work together on and practice some low-stakes teamwork,” Mullin said. “You start to get certain skills while you’re bringing something amazing into fruition.”
