Florida Poly Makerspace sparks student ingenuity

by The 100 Companies

The Makerspace at Florida Polytechnic University is giving students a creative haven to independently work on personal or classroom projects.

The lab opened in the fall 2023 semester. It is equipped with a diverse array of tools and equipment, including ordinary implements like wrenches and hammers, as well as specialized equipment such as soldering tools, a sewing machine, T-shirt press and voltage testers.

“It’s a great resource for a lot of students,” said Noah MacFarland, a mechanical engineering major and Makerspace volunteer. “We’re able to use tools, materials and machines, so it’s not a library; it’s more like a workshop.”
