Timothy Ubben, founder of Chicago-based investment firm Lincoln Capital Management, has announced a $5 million gift to the University of South Florida Foundation to create the Ubben Family Center for Pulmonary Fibrosis.

The center will increase research on pulmonary fibrosis, a disease that causes lung scarring, at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.

This is Ubben’s second gift to USF this year, after donating $1 million in February to fund the Ubben Family Pulmonary Research Laboratory, led by Dr. Jose D. Herazo-Maya, associate chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the Morsani College of Medicine.
