At B2, we believe that writing shorter and tighter is a skill that’s key to successful communication. Whether we’re writing a blog post, news release or guest column, we know that taking time to self-edit and tighten our writing will give it much more impact.
Here are three tips to help:
1. Be a tough editor. Anything can be cut 10-20% after the first draft.
2. Use active voice. It makes your points more quickly and more directly.
3. Consider the overall purpose of the piece, and stay on track. Everything you write needs to tie to that.
