Coaches’ teamwork is key

What makes the Tampa Bay Lightning so consistently excellent, year after year?

The answer is teamwork, but not only among the players. Sports Illustrated recently spent three days with the Lightning for a behind-the-scenes story and found that the coaches’ teamwork is also key, built by everything from competing for swag to a monthly golf tournament.

“Chemistry and synergy are paramount,” said head coach Jon Cooper. “If you’re trying to build a culture with the players, you’d be a little hypocritical if you didn’t have the same thing in the staff.”

That’s something any organization can learn from.
