‘Class Acts’ makes a difference

There’s nothing quite like seeing kids smile and laugh at a children’s play.

That’s what I saw recently when I sat in on a show called “Your Alien” at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, part of the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts’ “Class Acts” program.

In the past seven years, the program has brought in over 120,000 Pinellas County schoolchildren to see shows at the Mahaffey, many with complimentary admission and transportation.

“Class Acts” also provides educators with study guides, prepared specifically for each performance. All in all, this is a program deserving of the community’s support.
