Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Anibal Dejesus from Valrico works on the flight deck, disconnecting a hose aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz in Puget Sound.
Dejesus is one of more than 5,000 sailors currently working on the 1,092-foot flagship carrier, the USS Nimitz.
In March 2021, the USS Nimitz returned home from a 99,000-mile, 11-month deployment across the world, during which its crew launched and landed more than 8,600 planes.
The USS Nimitz, which was launched in 1972, is currently underway in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. The ship is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2025.
