Lightning close in on a return trip to Stanley Cup final

by The 100 Companies

The Lightning need one win for a third-consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup finals following their 3-1 victory Thursday over the Rangers.

The Bolts’ two late goals broke a 1-1 tie and let them assume a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference final.

With 1:50 left, defenseman Mikhail Sergachev beat Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin. It was later found that Ondrej Palat got a piece of the puck before it entered the net and was given credit for the goal.

Brandon Hagel’s empty-net goal with 59 seconds left sealed the win.

Game 6 is Saturday in Tampa at 8 p.m.
