Get ready to see some squares on the beach marked off with plastic tape.
Tuesday marks the beginning of sea turtle nesting season that continues through Oct. 1.
Much of the 100 miles of beach protected by the state’s parks are major nesting sites for the endangered reptiles. The John D. MacArthur Beach State Park in North Palm Beach is one.
In addition pleading for people to give adult turtles and their hatchlings space, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission asks that artificial lights do not shine on the beach. Any artificial illumination should be turtle-friendly lights approved by the FWC.
