Science Meets Art in USF Installation

by

World-renowned artist Tomás Saraceno works at the crossroads of art, physics, biology, astronomy and engineering. Fittingly, his work Caelum Dust (2016) is now installed in USF Tampa’s Interdisciplinary Sciences Building.

The installation spans the atrium and casts kaleidoscopic reflections of light as viewers move through the space. The interconnected modules create a bridge between disciplines, resembling structures like nucleuses, spider webs and a cluster of stars.

Saraceno collaborates with institutions like MIT, and his work appears around the world, like the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin in Berlin, Germany.
