Lack of offense dooms Rays in playoffs

by The 100 Companies

At least we know what the Rays’ mission will be in this offseason: Find some offense.

Their season ended quietly Saturday with a 1-0 loss in 15 innings at Cleveland. That came after a 2-1 loss Friday in the best-of-three series.

The Rays struck out 20 times in the decisive game, including twice in the 15th inning when they had runners on the corner with one out.

“This two-game series, you saw about as good a pitching as you’re going to see,” Rays Manager Kevin Cash said. “On the other side, I’ll speak for our club: We’re capable of more.”
