Bulls blown out by BYU in opening loss

The excitement USF’s football team generated for the last nine months leading into this season vanished in 15 minutes in an opening 52-20 blowout loss to BYU.

Cougars running back Puka Nacua had a 75-yard touchdown run on BYU’s first play. The Cougars led 28-0 after one quarter.

“I’m really very surprised, honestly. Sometimes as a coach, you may see some signs during practice where guys aren’t quite locked in or focused,” USF Coach Jeff Scott said.

“It really was the opposite of that. I felt like we were prepared. Obviously, we weren’t.”
