The Miami Dolphins had impermissible contact with quarterback Tom Brady while he was under contract to both the Buccaneers and New England Patriots.
Calling it tampering of “unprecedented scope and severity,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell docked Miami two draft picks – including 2023’s first-rounder – and suspended Dolphins owner Stephen Ross through Oct. 17. Ross was fined $1.5 million, and Vice Chairman Bruce Beal was fined $500,000.
An investigation by the NFL found that the Dolphins met with Brady and his agent in 2021 about becoming a limited partner and executive. There were discussions about Brady playing with the Dolphins as well.
