Rays Shane McClanahan has tough All-Star outing

Tampa Bay Rays ace Shane McClanahan has been the American League’s most dominant pitcher in the first half of the season, but his All-Star Game debut didn’t go as planned.

McClanahan received the starting nod but was touched for four hits and two runs in his one inning of work. He surrendered a two-run home to Paul Goldschmidt.

McClanahan, a product of the University of South Florida, was the first Rays pitcher to start an All-Star Game since David Price in 2010.

“It’s been unreal,” he said of his first All-Star experience. “… I’m just glad to be a part of it.”
