Three candidates running with at least some alignment to the controversial group Moms for Liberty were seeking seats on the Pinellas County School Board this year. Two lost, leaving just one – Stacy Geier – still in the running.
Geier and former legislative aide Katie Blaxberg finished in the top two earlier this month and will now face off in the General Election.
The race pits a hyper-conservative candidate against Blaxberg, a registered Republican who has been labeled a RINO – Republican In Name Only. Their race will be the final local test of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ sway in Pinellas over public education.
