Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang was in Tampa last week stumping for a new centrist political party, the Forward Party, along with its co-founder, former U.S. Rep. David Jolly.
Jolly was a moderate Republican before leaving the party amid frustration with former President Donald Trump, and he’s now a huge proponent for change to the predominately two-party political system in the U.S.
Yang pitched the new party as a way to rally officials to local office, rather than hitching to a presidential campaign, a strategy they believe could be successful in beginning to shift the balance of power.
