Gov. Ron DeSantis gave his OK to make the University of South Florida’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) – Risk to Resilience Lab the statewide repository for anonymous human trafficking data.

DeSantis signed Senate Bill 7064 into law on Wednesday , which supports victims of human trafficking and strengthens penalties for human traffickers, in addition to appointing the TIP lab to collect and analyze statewide data.

USF’s TIP lab will better understand the human trafficking magnitude and trends in Florida over time.

The law also taps the lab with evaluating the effectiveness of state-funded initiatives and working with law enforcement and state agencies.
