St. Pete City Council members on Thursday will discuss whether to allow certain single-family homeowners to convert their property into up to four residences, a move that would increase housing density and shore up a dwindling stock that is, at least in part, driving housing costs upward.
But not everyone is on board. Some residents are concerned about creating a “concrete jungle.”
Mayor Ken Welch wants the change, according to the Tampa Bay Times, with City Council members still on the fence. Ed Montanari told the Times he has concerns about proposed zoning changes, while Lisset Hanewicz wants more feedback.
