Hillsborough GOP taps first Black chairperson

by The 100 Companies

The Hillsborough County Republican Party has selected Dana Galen as its new chair, marking the first time an African American member of the local party has held the post.

Galen will replace outgoing chair Jim Waurishuk, who has been a controversial leader in Hillsborough.

Galen is a retired musician and paralegal and has been a Republican since the 1990s, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Galen will serve as one of just two Black GOP chairs in Florida.

She joined the Republican party after determining liberal welfare policies were promoting stagnation, not growth and progress, within the African American community.
