Get a colonoscopy. It’s that simple.

I’ll get right to the point. Get a colonoscopy if you’re 50 or older.

I recently got one at age 51 and learned I had a cancerous tumor in my small intestines. Surgery removed the cancer, which had not spread. Without the colonoscopy, or if I’d waited for symptoms, the prognosis could’ve been much different.

I credit my friend and B2 colleague Beth Meccariello for asking if I’d had a colonoscopy after telling me her dad died of colon cancer a few years back. Promoting this exam, recommended for anyone over 50, has become her mission. Now it’s mine, too.
