St. Pete Pier taking shape

St. Pete Pier

A new destination in downtown St. Petersburg is one step closer to opening. Over-water construction on the St. Pete Pier is complete, meaning the decks and 425 pilings that carry people to the Pier Head are finished.

Vertical construction is taking shape with the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center, Doc Ford’s restaurant, the Pier Head and Pavilion near Spa Beach. The infrastructure for Janet Echelman’s art sculpture will be installed this spring, and installation for the kid’s playground will begin by late summer/early fall.

Major construction for the pier will end this year, and it’ll open in 2020.
