The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay is bringing a hands-on approach to music education in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties with its Youth Initiative, which immerses students in professional performing arts.
The group will make in-school presentations and produce two free “Going to the Show” concerts in partnership with Hillsborough and Pinellas schools. Leaders hope to reach at least 2,000 students with the Youth Initiative.
Last year, students learned to sing the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg. Research shows that music can help improve students’ academic performance by stimulating brain development.
