Thanksgiving is a time for family, food and giving thanks. But if your family decides to change the traditional turkey this year to a deep-fried turkey, there are a few things to keep in mind to stay safe during your Thanksgiving meal prep:
1. Make sure the turkey is fully thawed and dry. Extra water can cause oil to splatter.
2. Place the fryer outdoors (at least 10 feet from the house) and on a flat surface.
3. Be prepared. Cover bare skin, use oven mitts, keep kids away from the fryer, and have a fire extinguisher on hand.
