A microchip is key to helping a lost pet find its way home. A veterinarian or shelter can scan a lost pet’s microchip for a registration number and contact the registry that stores the owner’s information.
Just remember, a microchip is only as good as the information, so make sure to keep your information up to date.
Also, don’t rely on microchips alone. A neighbor who finds your pet can return him if he’s wearing a visible ID collar.
Talk to your veterinarian if your pet needs a microchip, or if you aren’t sure whether your adopted pet has one.
