The 11th annual Gasparilla International Film Festival, which opens March 2, features a week of movies, documentaries, short films, master classes and panel discussions.
The festival kicks off with a showing of “Burn Your Maps,” a quirky tale of an 8-year-old boy who believes he’s a Mongolian goat herder, at the Tampa Theatre. A few local highlights include “Joe’s Show Will Go On,” a profile of legendary Ybor City drag queen Joey Brooks; and “Turtle Tale,” a fantasy set in McGough Nature Park in Largo.
Aside from opening night, the festival takes place in venues around Ybor City.
