Leonard Pitts pens final column for Miami Herald

Leonard Pitts, a long-time columnist for the Miami Herald whose work often cross-posts in the Tampa Bay Times, penned his final column Tuesday, capping a 46-year career in the news business.

Pitts has given voice to a variety of national issues, including the recent Georgia Senate runoff, gun violence and all things Donald Trump.

Pitts is leaving the news world to be an author and already has several books under his belt, including his most recent, “The Last Thing You Surrender,” written in 2019. He’s also penned “Racism in America,” “Grant Park,” “Freeman,” “Forward From This Moment” and “Before I Forget.”
