The City of Tampa is set to go green for Mental Health Awareness month this May.

According to Mental Health America, Hillsborough County ranks No. 3 in the nation for prevalence of mental illness and second in suicide ideation. The city is partnering with the nonprofit organization Tampa Bay Thrives to raise awareness and destigmatize discussions surrounding mental health.

On May 1 and 8 from sundown to sunup, Tampa will light green the Brorein Street Bridge; Kennedy Boulevard Bridge; Fortune Street Bridge; Platt Street Bridge; Old City Hall; the palm trees and fountain at Curtis Hixon Park; and the Riverwalk.
